Paul Okirig

Paul Okirig is Lecturer Legal Methods, Constitutional Law, and Administrative Law. He holds a Master of Laws degree from Northumbria University, UK, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Dip.Lp) from the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) from Makerere University.

 

He is a Senior State Attorney working with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Uganda where he is involved in formulating policy, drafting of government legislation, negotiating and drafting Treaties and agreements as well as advising the Attorney General on policy and the law.

 

Paul has researched widely and done several post graduate courses in COMMELEGAL and policy drafting including a post graduate course in proficiency in legislative drafting, and has participated in the commonwealth legislative drafting course for African Member States. Paul has attended several workshops and training on transitional justice systems in post conflict areas and been involved in the drafting of laws intended to give effect to transitional justice mechanisms.

Paul is an active member of the Uganda Law society, the Africa Judicial Network, the Common Wealth Association of Legislative counsel and is a court accredited mediator.
