This Master’s Programme developed by the Faculty of Law at UCU focuses on developing knowledge of the key issues in the emerging oil and gas industry. Beyond this, this postgraduate degree also aims to increase analytical and research skills in terms of information analysis relating to legal, economic and environmental problems concerned with the oil and gas industry as well as to allow students to gain exposure to a multidisciplinary learning environment.
Course topics include: sources of oil, oil and gas regulations, energy law and policy, oil and gas contracting, project financing of natural resource and energy, petroleum resources taxation, environmental aspects of oil and gas and international arbitration, among others.
Graduates of this Programme will be qualified to practice law in sectors related to issues in the emerging oil and gas industry. These include but are not limited to determining ownership for the right to mine oil and gas, conditions minors have to follow, and regulations governing harvesting of these resources.
