At the School of Law, we take mooting seriously. Mooting of a moot is a fictitious court that is held usually in law schools across the world to argue moot or hypothetical cases before usually hypothetical courts of law. We always engage out students in moot court competition, whether against each other (intra – moot) or against the different universities in Uganda, East Africa, continental wide or on a globally scale (inter – university).
Our students continuously excel in these competitions sometimes emerging as the best team that this country can produce, and bringing trophies to the University. We constantly emerge victors in national moot competitions to the extent of having to travel across the globe to represent our Country at international levels.
We have participated in a number of moot court competitions including the CEHURD Law Moot that is annually convened by CEHURD, the recently launched inaguarual Tech Law Moot by the Centre for Technology Disputes – Uganda (CTDR – U) among others competitions that take place within the country. We have also particapted in a number of times in the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition that takes place annually in Washington USA, and the John H. Jackson World Trade Organisation Moot by the World Trade Organisation.
Below is a non – exhaustive list of the moots that our students have continuously engaged in;
…among others.
In order to produce the best out of our students, we always bring on mentors from within the staff at the School of Law and especially Alumni who have themselves participated in these competitions. They mentor our students and take them through rigorous training to ensure that they are always the best that the country has got to offer.
