The requirement of internship ogres around the School of Law curriculum that was passed mid – 2017.
All third-year law students are to undertake compulsory field work during their long vacation before entering into the 4th year where they will be attached to Government Departments, Local Governments, Public institutions the private sector enterprises, or non-government organizations to get practical experience. The students will be expected to submit a Field Attachment Report at the end of the fieldwork attachment, which will be at the start of the semester of forth year.
The compulsory requirement for internship does not however preclude the students from the other years to take part in internship training. The School highly recommends all students to be involved.
To beat the market that is saturated with so many law schools, and given the large number of law students the School churns out into the employment world, internship is there to make sure that our students are more marketable and are ready to be received.
Field work attachment for third year law students is assessed and contributes to the student’s academic grading. Marks for Field Attachment performance are distributed between the assessment by the On-Site Field Supervisor and the Academic Supervisor.
