The Law Development Center (LDC) on the 25th August 2023 released the list of the students/lawyers who have been admitted for the Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (“Bar Course”) for the academic year 2023/2024.

The list follows a sitting of the Admissions Board of LDC that sat on the 23rd August 2023 (Wednesday) where a total number of 2903 applications were received and reviewed. Of these, a total of 1649 lawyers were admitted with 1445 (new applicants), 126 (admitted in 2022) and 78 (repeating the bar course).

Out of the total new applicants (merit/performance admissions), the biggest share of the number was taken by the School of Law, Uganda Christian University (UCU) that received 400 admissions. In contrast Islamic University in Uganda received 345 admissions while Makerere University received 250 admissions with Kampala International University taking 189 admissions. Other 10 universities received double or single digit admissions.

As UCU Law we hope that after completing the 9 – months long Bar Course which starts on the 3rd October 2023, our alumni will be among the best employable lawyers for the job market.

The School of Law has also been in the news following the results of the earlier academic year 2021/2022  at LDC revealed that we still captured the lion share of 1st class graduates, with 10 out 20 first class graduates coming from the School of Law, UCU.

We continue to be proud of our students and lawyers. For details, see link
